U.S. Embassy in Pristina to accept B1/B2 visa applications from all Kosovars aged 50 and older

U.S. EMBASSY PRISTINA TO ACCEPT B1/B2 VISA APPLICATIONS FROM KOSOVARS AGED 50 AND OLDER, 16 May 2018

The U.S. Embassy in Pristina is pleased to announce that it will accept B1/B2 visa applications from all Kosovars aged 50 and older, starting immediately.  Previously, only B1/B2 applicants aged 60 and older were eligible to apply in Pristina.  Because the U.S. Embassy in Pristina seeks to provide high levels of customer service to Kosovar visa applicants and recognizes the difficulty of traveling to Skopje given the closure of the main road, it has decided to expand the visa services offered in Pristina.

Prospective visa applicants must fill out the DS-160 visa application (found on the U.S. Embassy website:  https://xk.usembassy.gov/visas/) and list Pristina as their place of application.  Applicants can then make an appointment on the website.  On the day of their appointment, they will pay the required visa fee (dollars or euros only) at the Embassy and be interviewed by a consular official.  Please note that these procedures differ from the visa application procedures at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje.  Applicants who have already paid their MRV fee online or at a Raiffeisen Bank cannot use this fee to apply at Embassy Pristina- they must either apply at Embassy Skopje or pay a new fee.  All applicants must demonstrate their qualifications for the visa at the time of the interview in order to receive a visa.  In most cases, approved visas may be picked up at the Embassy the next working day after the interview.

The U.S. Embassy in Pristina looks forward to offering additional visa services in the coming year.  Please follow the Embassy on Facebook for news and updates.  Questions may be sent to PristinaVisas@state.gov.

IMPORTANT POINTS

  • Applicants should arrive no more than 15 minutes before the time of their interview. Large bags or weapons are prohibited at the Embassy.  To facilitate security screening, applicants should consider leaving electronic devices at home.
  • Access to the Consular Section involves steps and uneven surfaces. Because of space limitations, individuals who are not applying for visas may not enter the Embassy.  Visa applicants with limited mobility or who require the assistance of a family member should consider applying at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje.
  • Married couples may apply together in Pristina as long as one member of the relationship is over the age of 50. All other B1/B2 visa applicants between the ages of 14 and 49, who do not otherwise qualify to apply in Pristina, must apply at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje.
  • The Consular Section has limited appointment capacity. Applicants should be patient if their desired application date is unavailable.  Visa applicants with urgent travel should consider applying at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje.
