Statement from the U.S. Embassy Pristina, June 4, 2015

Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL General John Allen was in Pristina today to meet with President Jahjaga, Prime Minister Mustafa, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Thaci to discuss furthering our cooperation to degrade and defeat ISIL. General Allen also met with Minister of Internal Affairs Hyseni and Kosovo Police to review our counterterrorism cooperation.

In all his meetings today General Allen expressed his appreciation for Kosovo’s membership in the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL and its participation in the Coalition Counter-Messaging Working Group, as well as Kosovo’s efforts to counter violent extremism and impede foreign terrorist fighter flows. General Allen affirmed with Kosovo officials the importance of enhancing our information and intelligence sharing to help halt the flow of foreign fighters, and discussed a number of ways we can broaden and deepen our outreach to populations at risk of radicalization.
