DCM Colleen Hyland Remarks for the Donation Ceremony of Hospital Beds to the Health Center, 20 September 2017
Dr. Gjocaj, Dr. Veseli, Minister Ismaili, and the hardworking staff here at the Clinical Center. I’m very pleased to be here today to mark the donation of much needed medical equipment to the Health Center.
I am pleased to report that the Health Center has recently installed 38 intensive care hospital beds, to be used in four separate clinics. These modern hospital beds, donated by the United States, will lead to increased comfort for patients, and better quality of care overall.
The United States is very proud of its continuing support of the Health Center. This particular donation is valued at over 60 thousand dollars, and was funded via the United States European Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Program. The effort for this donation was spearheaded by the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC), which is at our Embassy, and is only the latest in a long line of support, which in total is valued at over 2 and a half million dollars.
I want to thank the Ministry of Health and the staff of the Health Center today, for their hard work on behalf of the people of Kosovo.
Finally, I would like to thank the ODC team, Major Devlin and Major Marti, who worked with the Health Center to organize this donation. We are very proud of all that has been accomplished until now in improving and developing the Health Center’s capacity, and look forward to continuing EUCOM and the Embassy’s partnership with the Ministry of Health.
Thank you.
