American Corners Assist in Fight Against COVID -19

The U.S. Embassy’s American Corners are using their 3D printing technology to fight COVID-19 in Kosovo by producing face visors for local health care centers. The American Corner in Prizren is producing 100 face visors using their 3D printer and 3D pen technology and once done donating them to local health centers in coordination with the Municipality’s Directorate of Health. Thanks to support from University of Pristina engineering professor Shaban Buza, they successfully produced a first batch of high quality, practical visors. As of April 8, they have produced 50 visors, donating them to the Main Family Medicine Center and to the Emergency Center, both in Prizren, as well as to private physicians, dentists, and lab technicians.

The American Corner in Pristina lent its 3D printer and supplies to BONEVET Prishtina to support production of face visors for health care workers. Working with their partners, volunteers, and the community, BONEVET has increased their production of visors to cover the needs of hospitals and medical centers, police and other public services throughout Kosovo.

Embassy Pristina thanks all its partners, their staff, and all the volunteers at the American Corners and elsewhere who are working hard to fight COVID-19. In particular, we would like to acknowledge Besart Osmani, Durim Kolukaj and Fikret Kastrioti from the American Corner in Prizren for their support for local health care providers. Together we can defeat COVID-19.
