First of all, I have to say that I am frustrated the opposition has once again used violence to disrupt the democratic process in Kosovo. Kosovo’s democracy, and the rights of the people to have a functioning government, should not be continued to be thwarted by a minority of MPs. Interestingly, I think the opposition demonstrated for a good chunk of the debate that they knew how to conduct a debate – democratic – but then unfortunately it devolved into tear gas again. In conclusion, I want to say that the United States has faith in Kosovo’s democracy. I am here, once again, to demonstrate my support for Kosovo’s institutions, for its people, and for the Assembly, elected in Kosovo’s only free and fair elections in 2014. We thank the Kosovo Police and Assembly staff for keeping the situation calm and safe.
